Two-wire switch and adapter

The Kisi Two-Wire Switch and Adapter (also referred to as PSE/PD (Power Sourcing Equipment/Powered Device)) allow you to migrate to the Kisi platform at a minimal cost, and modernize your access control system while keeping your existing wiring.

Deployment guides​

Compatibility​

The switch and adapter must be from a compatible hardware revision. Check the sticker on each device to identify the model:

  • A switch labeled plc-pse R13 is only compatible with an adapter labeled plc-pd R14
  • A switch labeled plc-pse (no revision suffix) is only compatible with an adapter labeled plc-pd (no revision suffix)

Devices currently in production are R13 (switch) and R14 (adapter). If you have older devices without a revision suffix, they are not compatible with the current production models.

Two-Wire Switch (Power Sourcing Equipment / PSE)​

The Two-Wire Switch (Power Sourcing Equipment / PSE) is the power-providing component of the system. It supplies electrical power over a two-wire connection to the connected device.

Installation requirements​

  • Cable type: 2-wire, coaxial, CAT 5e, CAT 6 or similar
  • Transfer range (PLC): up to 300 m (depends on cable quality and type; bandwidth declines with distance)
  • Number of adapters: up to 12 per switch (power budget limits practical maximum to 9 adapters at full draw; see Power output)

  • PSE-PD link: Green (middle) PSE-PD connection status
  • PWR: Green (bottom) Power is on

Required power input​

  • DC input: 48 volts direct current / 3.3 amperes

Two-Wire Adapter (Powered Device / PD)​

The Two-Wire Adapter (Powered Device / PD) receives power from the Two-Wire Switch (PSE) and uses it to power the Kisi Reader.
